You have grown so lanky and tall in recent months, and with a baby in the house you seem so big in comparison.  It is hard to remember that you are still only four years old.  A very little girl.

And I love this age.  I love your curiousity, your sweetness and your vivid imagination.  I love the way you "put on" invisible ballet slippers, a gown and elbow-length gloves so that you can dance like a ballerina.  And the way we have two imaginary reindeers named Lily and Emily pulling our car right now.  You tell me elaborate stories about them, how they are very kind, they like to be fed and they like to start out slow at the beginning of the drive. You even had me "feed" and "pet" them before I got in the car while we were downtown the other day - who knows what passersby thought about my gesturing around in front of the car ....

I love the way you have a habit of saying "mama, I love you" several times a day, every day, for no apparent reason.  I drink it in and store it away for those years when these statements from you will be fewer and far between.

I love the way, when I'm angry or upset, you tell me "mama, even when you're angry with me you always still love me" - it immediately diffuses any irritation I might feel - and of course you know it.

I love the way that you sometimes (when you want to avoid doing something or explain why you didn't do something) make a little pouty face and say in your sweetest little voice "but I'm still just a little girl".  And that you are.  A fabulous little girl!
