I can't believe that it was six years ago today when you entered this world and changed our lives forever. There really is no other life event that defines a new chapter in your life as clearly as the birth of your first child.
You are the one who made me a Mama, and you will always be my baby, no matter how grown-up you get (this is a topic of much discussion between us right now, since you can't figure out how you could still be a baby as a grown-up, but you seem to like the general idea).
I know that every mama says this, but I just can't believe how quickly you are growing up, and it seems like you just became this big girl in the blink of an eye.
I loved watching you evolve this year, from a preschooler to a kindergardener. The transition has been so completely smooth, even though none of your preschool friends were in your new big school. But you were not intimidated about going into the big school - not at all. You confidently strode in on that first day and told me that you would be fine. You immediately made new friends (you play with both boys and girls which delights your teacher) and you take all new challenges in a stride. We are very proud of you.
Since we were in Germany on your birthday, we celebrated with family only - a special private tour of the Zoo just for the five (!) of us. I loved the way you were listening so intently to everything our guide said and the way you asked such thoughtful questions. It was a lovely snowy day and we had the entire zoo almost to ourselves. In the afternoon, you grandma G. arrived with more gifts, and then your uncle D. and cousin C. joined us. We had a lovely day.
We wish you a wonderful new year, with good health and lots of love, fun, play, friendship, travel, exploration and learning.
You are a fabulous and very cool little girl!
